Electronic Engineer
Job Description
We are looking for an Electronic Engineer to join our Engineering division at QTI.
As an Electronic Engineer, you will have the opportunity to develop, design and implement the electronic control board of the quantum communication system.
More specifically, you will manage high-level communication protocols, down to the driving and reading of innovative optoelectronic devices. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team in an international environment and contribute to the setup of the entire (sub-) system.
Key Responsibilities
- Designing digital, analog or radio frequency circuits, components, and subsystems.
- Perform preliminary and detailed analyses/simulations on either Analog or Digital Interfaces.
- Working as a collaborative team member in engineering projects, performing leadership activities when needed.
- Coordinating activities with other engineers and designers.
- Development and realization of FPGA-based systems for quantum communication.
- Delivering expert-level technical support in the resolution of FPGA design and application issues.
- Participating in development projects, possibly as part of a national team and may include the generation of collateral and reference designs.
- Designing, inspecting, testing, and updating electronic systems, components, equipment, and software.
- Ensuring all equipment and products meet health and safety regulations.
- Observing existing processes and making recommendations for improvement.
- Representing the company at conferences and delivering presentations when required.
- Establishing relationships with staff, vendors, suppliers, and other professionals in the field.
- Writing specifications, instructions, reports, and handling other required administrative duties.
Qualifications and skills
- Master's degree in Electronics Engineering / Physics / Photonics / Telecommunication Engineering or related fields. The Ph.D title will be considered a plus
- Strong practical knowledge of electronic software design and simulation
- Familiarity with quantum technology
- Proficiency in English language
- Effective communication skills and the ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment
- Experience in optics and/or optoelectronics will be considered a plus

This role requires a strong background in quantum engineering principles, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
You will work at the intersection of quantum hardware and software, ensuring the efficient operation and performance of quantum communication platforms and will collaborate with an interdisciplinary team comprising physicists, engineers, and software developers to contribute developing state of the art quantum platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Conducting research and development activities to explore new technologies and identify opportunities for improvement
- Writing grant proposals in collaboration with internal and external partners
- Leading research projects in collaboration with cross-functional teams, including scientists, engineers, and designers, to develop and implement new technologies or techniques
- Collaborating with external partners, such as universities or research institutions, to leverage their expertise and resources for research projects
- Assisting in the development and execution of intellectual property strategies, including patent applications and technology licensing
- Participating in project planning and contributing to the development of research goals and objectives
- Ensuring compliance with all relevant safety guidelines and regulations during the research and development process
Qualifications and skills
- Master's degree in Physics / Photonics / Telecommunication Engineering or related fields. The Ph.D title will be considered a plus
- Strong theoretical and/or practical knowledge of quantum technology
- Familiarity with the drafting of research proposals and management of Italian and EU research projects
- Proficiency in English language
- Effective communication skills and the ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment
- Experience in optics and/or optoelectronics laboratories will be considered a plus
