On the 150th anniversary of Guglielmo Marconi’s birth and 100 years since the birth of the Radio in Italy, on the 13th of June, the Italian Research Council and Rai- Radiotelevisione Italiana, organised the event “Guglielmo Marconi. Sulla rotta della scienza” in Rome to celebrate Marconi’s great scientific legacy.
On this occasion, QTI and Telsy realised a public demonstration on the most recent advancements in secure communications.
QTI’s Quell-X QKD devices and Telsy’s encryptors TelsyMusaX were used to encrypt and decrypt the traffic generated by a videoconference established between the CNR Headquarters in Rome and the CNR research center in Tor Vergata, Rome.
During the secure videoconference, the Director of the Institute of Optics of CNR Francesco Saverio Cataliotti and QTI’s President and COO Alessandro Zavatta, connected from the event’s venue with Ludovica Ciarravano, Marketing and Communication in QTI, at the CNR’s Tor Vergata premises, gave insights on the importance to look at the new cybersecurity threats and how Quantum Key Distribution can counter such threats.
The event represented a great opportunity to retrace scientific advances started with pioneers like Guglielmo Marconi with a look to the disruptive innovation quantum technology is bringing.
